Last of my Christmas projects

So I have finally finished the christmas projects I had set myself (Just!)
These are the 'Merry Christmas' banners I was asked to make in different languages. I acidentally made one extra in French, so decided to keep that one for myself!

Suppose I best get on with my uni work now....!

Surface design for fashion.

I'm now well into my second project at CCAD. This is a fashion and embroidery project for which I used the A/W 2012 trend, 'Bohemian Way' as my starting point. These are my first 2 digitally printed final designs to be cut into garment shapes. I will begin embroidering them whilst sitting in front of the telly, stuffing my face, over the Christmas holidays!

(Apologies for the creases, I haven't washed and ironed them since printing them yet!)

Slow progress...

So for the first of my Christmassy projects, I decided to make some lovely Christmas stockings, for three very special little people!
I haven't had much time to spend on them recently with all my uni work (and didn't really have time to spend today on them!) But as its now December, I thought I best get cracking before Santa arrives!
I managed to get the applique finished, just the lettering to finish before I start putting them together. I'm wondering if I should give the snowman some small buttons down his front, and some stick arms or just leave him as he is? Any thoughts?...

Feeling festive!

I know its only November, but I am afraid to say, I have given in and allowed myself to be seduced by all the twinkling Christmas lights and decorations that I saw in town today. I also got a teeeeny bit excited when I saw that Fenwicks window had arrived!

Sooo, I have decided to get a head start on some of the Christmas projects and gifts that I have in mind for this year- before my next uni project takes hold again!

It has been a hectic first few weeks, lots to take in  and lots of work to be getting on with, but I have loved every minute. Very excited to be working with trend forcasting company, Trend Bible on our first, furnishing fabrics project
(Top Secret at the moment Im afraid- all will be revealed!...)

Baby boy present

Something that isn't heart shaped for a change!

Just finished this little picture I was asked to make as gift for someone, look at the teeny initials on the sail!
Hope they like it!

Valentines Day!

I spent all day Friday putting the finishing touches onto my Valentines brief from the BTSDA for which I made some small appliqued framed pieces, and a selection of cards.

I had a rumage through my ever expanding stash of fabric, and used a mix of old and new floral, polka dot and generally 'pink' material to pick out and applique some of the detail of my 'Poppy Treffry esque' line drawings designs.

Painted frames with applique and blanket stitched hearts.

Although VERY fiddly, I had lots of fun making and dressing my army of 'gingerbread lovers' complete with hand embelished buttons.

I finished the cards using a screen printed black outline, and I have to say, I was so so pleased with how sweet they looked.
I will most definatly be making some more soon!

I hope they all make someone a lovely Valentines day gift!

Valentines Brief for BTSDA

More hearts!

I have started working on a new brief for the British Textiles and Surface design Association making valentines themed items to be sold at an event on the 12th and 13th of Feb (details to follow!)
These little pictures are just something I made one evening last week, I have a few more ideas in mind.... Best get cracking!

My heart obsession continues....

I am a bit of a Photoshop novice, but I must say I was just a little bit chuffed with this! This was a photo of the anniversary present I made, and after an hour or so of playing in Photoshop, and Ta Daaa!

Handmade Anniversary Present!

My parents recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary, and being the 'hard up student' that I am, I decided I would put my crafty talents to use, and make them a present.
After raiding the button tin, this was the result!

Thankfully, they loved it!
