Final Second year project

It has been a little while since I last posted as I have been busy with lots of uni work. But as I handed my last project of second year in today, I thought I would let you know what I have been up to...

I really enjoyed designing for gift during our live brief with Hallmark, and decided to do it again for our final individual options project.
I chose to design for the female market and chose a 'Craft' theme as my starting point. I looked at work spaces, craft materials, objects, tools and equipment such as sewing machines and typewriters. Below are my final collections of gift wraps, gift bags, cards and tags.

... And so the summer begins!

Surface Design for Gift

Our last project was surface design for gift, and was a live brief working with Hallmark. We were given a selection of trends to work with, and everyone produced some amazing work as there was the added pressure of presenting to industry. At the end of the project, we presented our work to Hallmark individually which was slightly nerve racking, but we all received really positive feedback. They were also offering placement opportunities- and I was lucky enough to receive one, which I was very pleased about!

Below are my final collections.

Embroidery update

I didn't manage to get as much work done over the Christmas holidays as I would have liked, (suprise, suprise!) and so have been playing catch up on my embroidery project over the last week or so. I am quite enjoying all the stitching and beading so far, so Im at little annoyed at myself for putting it off for so long, especially as I still have LOTS to do!

The above images are of my progress on my first 2 (very creased!) final garment shapes.

Last of my Christmas projects

So I have finally finished the christmas projects I had set myself (Just!)
These are the 'Merry Christmas' banners I was asked to make in different languages. I acidentally made one extra in French, so decided to keep that one for myself!

Suppose I best get on with my uni work now....!

Surface design for fashion.

I'm now well into my second project at CCAD. This is a fashion and embroidery project for which I used the A/W 2012 trend, 'Bohemian Way' as my starting point. These are my first 2 digitally printed final designs to be cut into garment shapes. I will begin embroidering them whilst sitting in front of the telly, stuffing my face, over the Christmas holidays!

(Apologies for the creases, I haven't washed and ironed them since printing them yet!)
